UPDATE: We think we finally have an answer to that allusive question! I want to personally thank one of the visitor's to our site for this: ...regarding Katy perry's guitarist. California girls and alot of Katy Perrys songs are co-written and produced by Dr Luke (and Max Martin) and he incidentally did produce all of Keshas stuff...Aaaaanyway theres are good chance Dr Luke (Lukas Gottweil) played the guitar on it becuase he was Saturday Night Live's house band guitarist for 7 years i think. So that boy can really play!!! Here's the original article:
It's part of our job to be up with everything music - even the new and trendy acts that many "legit" musicians want to shy away from. The truth is, like it or not, most of the youth these days listen to, are influenced and yes, are even inspired by the "trendy" acts of the day. So wether or not we think an artist can sing or dance or whatever doesn't mean their music doesn't have some sort of relevance.
The first time I heard Katy Perry's California Gurls, I was not impressed. I mean, those lyrics are the most unimaginative and lame lyrics I have every heard. However, as always with the "trendy pop" acts of today, the production value was great. Amazing really! Plus any song with Snoop Dog gets points with me! The second time I heard the song, I noticed a really funky - cool guitar part. It's really prevalent in the chorus! Very funky, very cool! I don't know how I missed it the first time! I wanted to write about it on this blog, my plan was to find out who the guitarist was, get a little background information on him(or her) and feature them on the site as either an artist of the month or just in my blog like I am doing right now. The only problem is that I can't find any info. doing regular online searches. This is a real shame! It also points to where we are right now, where some of the most talented people aren't even able to escape the shadows of their less musically talented peers. Now I heard Katy Perry can actually play guitar, so if that's her on the track/album I am duly impressed and take back those last comments. It sure is a far cry from back in the day, when all the instrumentalists were given performing credits on albums! So if anyone actually knows who is playing guitar on that track please let me know. I've got a sneaking suspicion it's the same person that played on Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls. |
